Abstract

The objective of this article is to show the impact of the minimum wage, foreign direct investment, technological transfer and economic activity on the generation of employment in Call Centers in Bogotá with operations abroad. For the analysis of the information, a specialized database from the Camara de Comercio of Bogotá was used. The approach used is of a mathematical statistical nature through the linear regression modeling method, which allowed validating the statistical significance and the degree of association and explanation of the variables. The model was estimated between the years 2007 to 2022 with information from 22 Call Centers that evidenced the provision of export services. As a result, a determination index of 96% was observed between the variables. It is possible to conclude that the employment generated by Call Centers is presented in marginal terms, because the foreign clients served do not affect the generation of new work units and the annual adjustment of the minimum wage in Colombia does not contribute to the increase in the employment. Besides, foreign direct investment contributes positively to the generation of new jobs.
