Abstract

A descriptive non-experimental cross-sectional study was carried out in adult patients belonging to the CMF 16 of the municipality of Fomento in the period from April 2023 to April 2024 with the objective of evaluating the risk factors that are influencing alcohol consumption. Semi-structured interviews, participant observation and documentary analysis were used to carry out this study. The results showed a high incidence of patients who were alcohol risk consumers between the ages of 41-45 years and 51-55 years. The sex with the highest prevalence of alcoholism was male. Patients with a high school, pre-university and technical school degree were the most common risk consumers. The occupations of the patients under study were farmers, self-employed workers and workers in commerce and gastronomy. The risk factors for alcoholism that are most evident are the availability of the substance, social acceptance, work and family conflicts, group influence and low tolerance to frustration.
