Adequate inventory management is a fundamental component in any sector. Therefore, this research focuses on evaluating this activity in the Provincial Company of Pharmacies and Opticians, Camajuaní network, and in the Municipal Health Sectorial Company of the same municipality. The evaluation is based on a checklist and a set of indicators that facilitate the analysis of management performance. The practical implementation of the procedure in the companies studied yielded a level of inventory management rated as “good” in both entities. However, the analysis of the indicators made it possible to identify areas with poor performance: in the case of the Provincial Company of Pharmacies and Opticians, the quality of information, and in the Municipal Health Sector, demand management. These aspects are presented as priorities for a process of continuous improvement focused on optimizing management functions in both organizations
